Breaking Free from a Lifetime of Diets

I started with Emerge in mid-January 2025, shortly before I turned 60 years old. Until this point, I had done everything - Weight Watchers (3x), Curves Fitness & Diet, Atkins, Vegetarian, starvation, I became a provider with a ketones supplement company, keto diet, different OTC diet pills and powders.
I was able to lose, but my body, at some point, realized I was losing and would end up saying, "hold up, sister, it's time to gain this weight back!" and without doing anything differently, I did indeed started gaining it all back and then some!
When I started with Emerge, I had switched to more of a carnivore diet (but with a few veggies) because that's what my body understood and responded to, but it wasn't enough to get me to lose weight. Then along came Emerge!
Like many other women, I deal with some medical complications that either prevent me from losing weight or make me gain easily...I'm post menopausal, metabolic syndrome, and have lipedema as well as lymphedema. Sometimes my body doesn't like me so it will gain weight if I go one calorie less into a deficit (it'll think I'm trying to starve myself) or if I try to exercise (beyond just walking), I pack on the pounds. My body is incredibly sensitive to change!

With Emerge, my body has equalized and seems to have called a truce with my scale!
With Emerge, yes, I've lost more weeks than I have gained, but there have definitely been weeks that I've worked hard to eat right, within my calories while focusing on protein and drank all my water, but I still gained weight! But that's the reality of it!
Don't always rely on the scale to tell you whether or not you're losing weight, you need to measure and to notice how your clothes are fitting. You may not lose weight this week or next, but if you measure each week or month, you'll see your body composition is just changing.
No one's body is perfect. There isn't a service manual and there are no instructions! For now, with my success so far, I am no longer the fattest person in the room, I'm thinner than my husband for the first time in 40 years! People seem to be nicer to me and take me more seriously. I even had a friend's 9yo daughter say "wow, mom, when I grow up, I want to look like Miss Joanne!" And we all know how honest and forthright little girls can be! I look forward to hitting my goal weight and plan to go on maintenance after that, but in the meantime, I will continue to be nice to myself and give myself grace.
This is the only body I have so I'm learning how to treat it so it lasts a good long time!
