Rediscovering Myself Through My GLP-1 Journey

Through this journey, I’ve found kindness for the person I see in the mirror and deep appreciation for the body that has carried me through every season of life. And I've learned that prioritizing my health isn’t selfish; it’s essential.

Over the past twenty years my life has felt like it was defined by motherhood, and my career as a social worker. I'm passionate about both, however somewhere in the mix of pouring everything into others, I think I lost myself.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in my mid-twenties, and my husband and I struggled to conceive our one and only child, our son who is now almost 17. Motherhood has been the most beautiful and complex thing I've ever experienced. Some days you feel like you're rockn' it and other days you're parenting from an empty cup.


My sons happiness, health, and well-being always come first, and while I wouldn’t change that for the world, it means that I often neglected my own.

As a social worker my goal has always been to empower others to find their voice, and to see their strengths even when life feels heavy. But somewhere along the way, I forgot to extend that same grace and encouragement to myself.


After some health concerns in early 2025, I knew I needed to put myself and my health first.

My PCOS symptoms were getting worse, despite trying to lose weight I was at my heaviest, my blood work showed high levels of inflammation, and my body was screaming for help.

Beginning my GLP-1 journey has been one of the most transformative decisions of my life. Over the past 7 months I've lost 43lbs and my relationship with food has changed significantly.


I’m learning to nourish my body with the right food, move it with intention, and extend the same love and compassion to myself that I try to give others.
